About Homebody Artisan
Making things at home, without the craft-class look.
Homebody Artisan is a small, independent site about projects you can finish in an evening or two. Most projects here use tools that are already in the drawer and materials from a hardware store or a second-hand shop — and the pieces are meant to sit in a room afterwards without announcing that they were homemade.
What we publish
- Wreaths & Door Decor — built so they come apart again next season.
- Candles & Scent — wax, wicks, and the two faults everyone hits.
- Upcycling — thrift flips including the repair nobody photographs.
- For Beginners — first projects, one step at a time, no special tools.
- Seasonal — published early enough that there is time to make them.
How we work
- Every project is written from the materials up: what you need, in what order, and why each step is there.
- Times are realistic, and they include drying, curing and the tidying up.
- Temperatures, ratios and safety notes follow the manufacturers’ instructions and published safety guidance.
- Difficulty is stated plainly. Where a step is fiddly, the article says so instead of calling everything easy.
- Each article says how to care for the finished piece and what will not last.
- When a reader finds a mistake, we correct the article.
Who is behind it
A small editorial operation rather than a studio with a name on the door — which is why you will find a monogram here and not a portrait. The images on this site are AI-generated illustrations of how a finished project can look, not photographs of our own workbench. The instructions are written to be followed by hand, and nothing on this site pretends to be a workshop it is not.
Made one of these projects and hit a snag? Write to contact@homebodyartisan.com — those messages usually improve the instructions.
